Wherein Liza Bean Bitey Explores Her Creative Side

I found a slight smear of canned cat food on my keyboard the other day.

Funny. I don’t remember eating cat food…

There’s a new icon on my desktop: Haikus.

Who can help but double-click?

Little can, dumped in
Ceramic platter is nice
Where is the garnish?

I glance over at Liza Bean, curled up on a folded blanket at the end of the couch. Her eyes are closed, but the set of her ears suggests she is not asleep.

I move to the next haiku, entitled “Rest Easy”.

One eye is open
Oh, yes, I am watching you
Your cash card in reach.

Hmmm. That explains the charge from Amazon. I can’t wait to see what arrives.

You know I couldn’t resist, don’t you? I left her a haiku on my way out.

Autumn approaches
The kitty sleeps on my head
I dream of fur hats.

Dang cat.

  8. Hahaha, but I'm afraid Liza Bean will probably always get the best of you. I bet there's another haikus there already awaiting your eyes.

  10. hahahaha - I wish my cats would write haiku instead of just messing with my files and shutting down the computer while I am prose-ing.

  18. Hey Pearl!

Yes indeed, some new talent there. Less worrying than the feline mafia, but only just...

  19. Oh, Liza Bean, it sounds like you'd better be minding your P's & Q's...someone has her eye on you.

  20. Liza Bean rocks. And I am very interested in her response to your haiku. Years back we had a mouse in the house. Smaller portion bad mouthed the cats ('lousy ingrates'). Guess who had a mouse head in his shoe the next morning?

  21. Thank heavens Miss. Ginger can't jump up on the desk (sausage dogs aren't as agile as kitties)...so I don't have to worry about this kind of Haiku mischief happening...I know she would if she could though!
Can't wait to see what the postman brings...

  22. Pearl,
Today we saw a car from Minnesota up here in Maine, and I asked Eva " Do you suppose that could be Lisa Bean Bitey of the Minneapolis Biteys?" As we went by, we saw that it was a human driving. For a moment there we thought she may have taken a long joy ride. Mr.Eva

  23. Dear Pearl,
Your hallucinations while entertaining, are worrisome.

I have to go. Spawn is reciting poetry tonight.

    Here's my favorite Haiku:

I've gotten rather tight for time and must decline awards. I love them, but I'd rather be posting something new and making more time to respond to your comments. A heartfelt thanks to all those who have considered me for a nomination. You know how I love you.
