Ouch.

Did anyone else hit the sidewalk, hard, last night?  Or was it just me?

Yep.  Straight off the bus -- and with plenty of witnesses! -- I pushed my right knee, and then my left hand -- into the cement.

That's not how walking down the street in the city looks in the magazines.

Writing has been suspended for a day or two.

Bruised in Mpls,

Pearl

That's what happens when you hang out with cats in bars.

AARRGGGH split-second stuff, the sidewalk splat. Been there, done that. No time to be embarrassed. Make sure to do the first aid. It doesn't include G&Ts.... until the icing and the wrapping are done. Then go for it. YAM xx

Take care of yourself, Pearl! I hope you recover quickly and find something humorous in it all (or give up those late afternoon office cocktails!)

You know how your heart leaps out to other people when you see them fall in public? Others' hearts went out to you when it happened, I guarantee you. One day they will have the guts to say it out loud. In the meantime, take care of the scrapes. Sidewalks are not the most hygienic of places to land...although they don't generally involve gravel, which is a plus.

Pearl, I hope you feel better soon... I feel for you, I damaged my knees from a fall once... it is awful... rest up and take care xox

I know it's confusing as I do it myself, but it is always left, right, left, right. Unless of course it is right, left, right, left. I sincerely hope your injuries heal quickly.

Ouch indeed.
It is a while since I have done a face plant (touching wood as I type) but I remember it well.
I hope you heal quickly.

Not last night, but yes, I have down the up close and personal with a concrete path. I was pushing a 'granny' trolley loaded with groceries when the tiny front wheels caught in a crack. The trolley stopped dead. I didn't. Sailed right over the top and landed flat.
Rest up and recover, Pearl.

Sorry to learn you fell down. It's a scary feeling --and it hurts. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

This'll teach you to stay off those flippin buses !! I told you over and over again, stay off buses !
You never know when one will just throw you out the door. They are like that .. unreliable and not that safe. If you don't believe me... ask your knee.

lots of love. C

I would be so embarrassed, God I hope I spelled that right. Yes, I am the one hurt and I am the one in pain, and yep been there and it is not pretty.

You be warm, quiet and safe.

Falling is never pretty and often hurts a lot. I hope you were not wearing a short skirt.

OUCH!! I hope nothing was broken. I had a friend who took a fall like that and broke both wrists requiring surgery on them and a long time with casts on them.

As one klutz to another... hope you feel better soon. Nothing broken, I hope.

As one klutz to another... I hope you feel better soon and you don't end up with "water on the knee" as I did once when I tripped over a shin-high warning marker and jammed a knee into the sidewalk.

Oh, please be whole soonest.

It is a case
of
someone wishing something
really strongly
and the universe
conspiring to make it happen.

I mean
who wants to have hand prints
stars and high heel potholes
of folks like
Angelina Jolie
Brad Pitt
Tom Hanks
Sean Connery
Michael Douglas
Somebody Cyrus
and
Britney Spears?

The sidewalk
dreamed big
prayed hard
and succeeded.

Pearl of Minneapolis
her palm and knees
now printed
on the sidewalk.

For Buses may come
and buses may go
Band aids may come
and bandages may go
but
impressions go on for ever.

That's called
making a Mark ....

Sending you some warm weather from Mumbai, and some good rest . Get well soon !

Pearl--On Friday I met some dog rescue people from Minnesota--RAGROM--and they got 15 golden retrievers from Turkey. One of them has the new name of Mary Tyler Moore.

If one of those goldens was with you, they'd lick your bruises... and then probably plop down on top of you. ;)

fmegmeelle said she would be "so embarrassed?" .... When I was in school, I was fooling around in front of the class while the teacher got hi desk together ... I did a silly hop skip as if I were playing the game when the heels of my loafers hit that shiny waxed floor and slid right out from under me and down I went, flat on my back ... cracking my head on the floor.
The teacher told me later, all he saw was my big eyes looking at him ... lol .. I was so embarrassed, who cared if I cracked my head.
