They’re Registered at the Transit Commission

I had reason to ride the bus Friday, not as part of the usual commute but during the day. You know. Like someone without a working car.

Ahem.

And you know what? While the rush-hour buses have purpose and a certain determination about them, the off-hour buses seem confused and easily distracted.

Not the buses, of course, but their contents. The passengers pull the cord signaling a stop without getting off, they leave their legs/baby strollers/children in the aisle, they hit on each other.

I personally witnessed a man successfully pick up a woman early Friday afternoon. Better than her phone number, she actually agreed to ride past her stop to his stop.

They’ll name their first child The 17E.

The bus as meat market – now that’s multi-tasking!

Right, I'm off to the bus stop. I'm wearing my best polyester and am doused in Hai Karate.

Hey lay-deeees!

The last time I was aboard a party bus the outside was painted in swirling colors and crudely drawn flowers and butterflies. And the inside was filled with...well... crudely constructed hallucinations.

People-watching on daytime buses can be fun. Unfortunately, on one of our routes you absolutely do not want to make eye contact with any of the other passengers. I once witnessed a catfight in the aisle; every single one of us on the bus, including the driver, pretended that nothing was happening. Move along sir, nothing to see.

I haven't taken a bus since I lived in NYC and then it was rare as I could usually get somewhere faster on the subway.

I would totally ride the bus to and from work if it ran late enough to get me home. I'd love to people watch and get more reading done. I don't suppose the afternoon riders had any problem with your ha ha 'diary' though. *winks!

blessings!

When I was growing up a long, looong time ago the stores, beauty shops and a lot of the doctors had their offices in the downtown area of Okla. City. Mom would take whichever of us kids were home at any given time that she needed to go to an appointment or take one of us kids to the doctor we'd ride the bus. It was a big treat. I haven't been on a bus in years and don't think I want to even if there were any running out where I live.

But I love your accounts of the trip!

Toooo funny!
Hey, in the bars, they pick up each other and they are drunk then.
At least on the bus, they are (hopefully!) sober and know who they are getting! ha
