Who do I talk to around here to get some of these summer activities moved to fall?

Don’t get me wrong – I love being busy, I love seeing friends, dancing, drinking, telling stories.

But it gets into my sleep cycles and the next thing you know, I’m going to bed at 2:00 and getting up at 11:00.

A vision of my mother, hundreds of miles away, appears in my bedroom: Get outta that bed! Half the day’s wasted!

Ah, but the night was not wasted. Good friends Becky and James married yesterday afternoon in a lovely brick chapel on the St. Catherine campus in St. Paul. I sat with a full pew of friends, summer dresses and peep-toe shoes, alternately singing and lip-synching to the hymns, enjoying the ritualistic call-and-response of the Catholic church.

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but there’s an awful lot of “please rise” and “you may be seated” in the Catholic church.

Or as Kelsey muttered half-way through the program: Lean to the left! Lean to the right! Stand up, sit down, fight fight fight!

I wait all year for summer.

Still, I can’t help but wish that the heady rush of it was spread out across the rest of the year. A blur of graduations, weddings, BBQs, pub crawls – it’s all jammed into the precious three or four months of weather that doesn’t require 10 minutes of dressing before going outdoors.

I’m off now, off to make up for my earlier slothfulness. There are eight loads of clothes, towels and other washable whatnot waiting for me.

May the warmth of the summer sun and the glow of friends be with you.

And also with you.

I wait all year for summer and it goes by in the blink of an eye. Why is that?
If only winters were as much fun as summers.

I think this is what they mean by being to exercise religion. Too much moving around. Be an atheist and relax at home.

Enjoy the summer whirl.

Catholic Church is like a bad game of Simon Says.

At least there is a bit more daylight to accomplish all these things :)

And let us now offer each other the sign of peace. . .

actually from what I remember as a kid, you don't have to kneel as much anymore.

Love that "...Lean to the left! Lean to the right! Stand up, sit down, fight fight fight! "

That would have might mass more fun.

I guess you have the warmth of fresh towels from the dryer now.

And may the sun shine its face upon you...

I'm so with you. Oh, and "I’m going to bed at 2:00 and getting up at 11:00"--could you give me a wake-up call when you get up?
