If Only All The Best Things Came Wrapped in Aluminum

I’m a pretty easy gal, for the most part. A couple of kitties, a good beer on the weekends and a new pack of undies here and there and I’m a happy woman.

I’ve been told that I’m high-maintenance, but it certainly can’t be in the material aspects.

So what has got this simple gal going tonight?

Peer into my fridge, won’t you?

Over there, by the jars of pickles (does anyone else have five kinds of pickles in the house?), hey, those aren’t just any leftovers; those are leftovers from a restaurant.

There should be a restaurant that serves only leftovers, from a giant fridge… You go there, rummage through it, pull out what looks best.

As part of the whole couple-days-off-and-still-in-Minneapolis thing, we went out for dinner at a little Mexican place.

So you know what’s in the fridge, don’t you?

That’s right. Leftover Mexican food.

Bless you, my little brown friends. Your chili verde was ephemeral; your refried beans, musical.

It’s only been four hours since I ate the original meal, and here I am eating the leftovers.

This is how the other half live.

I love leftovers, especially if I didn't do the cooking originally. I mean, my leftovers are ok, but restaurant leftovers are always coveted....especially guacamole!

I like leftovers, mostly. But I do experience "leftover trauma".

I am frugal..so there are leftovers and "leftovers". those items you know you will never touch again. They will become experiments in Amazon penicillin or "meat cake".

I have tried. Once I made some leftover instant potatoes into little patties and fried them. This is the recipe: don't.

Left over T.V. Dinners are the best and you should check out The Divers song T.V. Dinner Blues.

your refried beans, musical.

And now you know why I say "Hold the beans, extra rice instead". (great wordplay, btw)

I only go out to eat so I will have something to much on for lunch the next day.

I hear Minneapolis/St. Paul got into the top five for road rage. Maybe it's best your car doesn't run.

I never eat my leftovers. Thank Goodness for Jeremiah and my son, they eat all of my leftovers so I'm not a huge waster jerk.

God bless Aluminium. there is a ring of sacred love around it ! The leftovers help us all survive !

And well !

Especially, if they are mexican !

I really like that "nothing but leftovers" restaurant idea. You could even call it "The Fridge".

Different sections . . . Italian, Chinese, etc.

I say go for it!

My leftovers rarely make it to the next day. Although I did manage to spare last nights Thai curry rice...lunch!

I'm with @hole. 'Leftover Leftovers' are terrible, and located in the farthest back corners behind a mostly empty jar of mayo.

How many times has someone pulled a container out of the fridge and asked you to smell it? Best to skip that leftover all together.

:)

ps
My fridge has lots of pickles too. Just like my pantry has lots of tuna. Weird huh?

I also love the little treasures in styrofoam boxes from a night out.
.....unless I find them 2 weeks later...
all fuzzy and a plethora of green colors.......
then it is "guess where I ate out and what's in the box" game...which can be fun too.

I'm getting old and timid: if the sausages glow in the dark I won't eat them any more.

I have no leftovers. I have a husband. He is the leftover king. Even if I am the makes the right amount queen. Irritating when you feel peckish with absolutely nothing to eat in the house.

No leftovers in restaurants here. Everybody eats everything!
Something to do with The Famine?

At home I always make too much just so we can have it for lunch next day.

Other half?

There's another half?

Is that the one the news keeps talking about whenever they keep trying to tell us that we are red or blue but that they are neutral and balanced?

Texmex is awesome!

Ummm... in what way, exactly, were the beans musical? Hmmmmm?

Yes, I AM a 9-year-old boy, thank you very much ;)

You got me on the first paragraph. I CAN RELATE TO THAT!

Does this mean we should show each other our undies? I mean the new ones, of course....

LOL. I'm liking that leftovers restaurant concept. What would you call it? It should have a snappy name.
