The World’s a Different Place When You’re Forced to Pay Attention

I stepped into the world naked the other day.

That’s right. I left my iPod at work.

It started innocently enough. I was going to charge it. No laws against that yet, right? I can charge my iPod at work?

But then I left it there. And there should be a law against that.

Suddenly the bars and moats surrounding the zoo animals were gone, and there we were, surrounded…

That’s the royal “we”, by the way. I carry extra people with me always – Teddy Roosevelt, Freddie Mercury, Liza Bean Bitey (of the Minneapolis Biteys), you…

So you know what happens when you can’t listen to music, don’t you?

You are forced to listen to the people around you.

Communication, people! It's all about the communication.

So why not, huh? What the hell. I'm gonna listen and learn.

And here’s what I learned the other day:

  • Betsy and Scott are still broken up? Like, for good this time? But he keeps going to her house? And she keeps letting him in?
  • The best place to see a band is at a small venue.
  • Virgins aren’t as virginal as they used to be.
  • Ray-Ray sucks.
  • Prince is short.

Sheesh. I mean, who didn’t know that Prince was short and that Ray-Ray sucks?

This whole "communication" thing is over-rated.

Happy Sat!

I knew about Ray-ray sucking, and about Prince being short- but what's this about the virgins?

I fookin' hate Ray-Ray,he's a player and dog looking for a bone...
And he's responsible for breaking up Betsy and Scott...this time..but Scott'll be back...he always comes back
They broke up at the Prince concert....we sat in the nosebleeds and you needed the Hubble telescope to see His Purple Badness...
Prince seems to be doing alot more acoustic stuff these days and that is more suited for clubs rather than arenas.
I like small venues , it's more intimate that way, and it's like hearing the music for the first time...all over again.

Every snippet tells a story...don't it?

Peace - Rene

I heard a whole conversation between two teenage girls the other day that made me want to roll up into a ball and die. I'm not sure that they were even teenage, maybe more like 11 or 12...I have a nine year old daughter!
How am I supposed to protect her from girls like that, talking about getting it from two ways...one from her 21 year old boyfriend, the other from his cousin Jay. Nice. Nobody's leaving this house EVER AGAIN.

Glad we got Betsy and Scott sorted...

Pearl, the mobile and Ipod have become a part of us.I do agree without these we feel naked. But my experience is without the mobile or with the mobile switched off, life is bliss.

Suddenly the bars and moats surrounding the zoo animals were goneWelcome to my world, Pearl. Living amongst the strangely angry paranoid schizophrenics is, shall we say, interesting?

Dear Pearl,

Thanks for abandoning me the other day. Do you have any idea how lonely it is at your workplace when everyone's gone, and I still have a charger plugged into my ass? Yeah, well, it's not supposed to be a permanent attachment. I just sat there all night, alone, not playing music for anyone.

And to top it off, some guy's Blackberry hit on me.

See you soon,

I. Podd

I loved the overheard lines blog (which is now closed, although there are others.) It is so much easier reading that stuff than listening to it.

While looking for new overheard lines blog I found this
http://www.textsfromlastnight.com/

"texts from last night" scary, sometimes amusing and resulting in many prayers for the world. It can be x rated, be warned...

and yeah, in spite of some of the offensiveness of it, I do keep going back... I am checking to make sure my son isn't posting :)

It's not Betsy's fault. She's just fed up with all those Antarctic treks Scott keeps galavanting off on.

I left my Mp3 player at home the other day. It was like torture.

I can't get radio reception in my office in our building...so I rely on my little friend to fill my days with music to keep me sane.

Well...as sane as possible...

:)

WHEN will Betsey learn to turn Scott away for good?

Scrappy Doo, if Betsy’s friend was any indication, she lacks the capacity :-D

IB, nothing! Nothing!! Shhhhhh.

Rene, you kill me. :-D

Erin, there’s a lot of low life people out there! As long as she knows that they’re there and what they look like and do, she’s gonna do all right.

Braja, but they were meant to be together!

Nsiyer, I’m a believer in silence!

Douglas, I thought you lived in Florida!

Darsden, I know! What would happen if it was gone? I’d have to listen to the people on the bus every day.

Chris, sure. Play on my love for the iPod. Oh, God! Do you think I should buy it a little something, maybe a new cover or some new songs?

Giantspeckledchihuahua, I love those sites. Overheard in New York is the same way. Not a G-rated site, but rarely so offensive that I can’t read on!

Jules, no wonder he’s gone for months at a time!

Sweet Cheeks, I think this is where I admit that I sleep with a white noise machine on.

Under the Influence, she’ll never learn. She loooooves him.

It's almost like when you go on vacation and you can't wait to leave then you have a crappy time and when you come home you wonder why you ever left... I'll bet when you get your IPod back on Monday you even buy it flowers!
