Midge’s Home for Wayward Kittehs

It is nice to know, in these times of suspicion and general un-civil-ness, in this period of self-righteous judgment, that there is still somewhere a pregnant kitty without a job can go.

I refer, of course, to Midge’s Home for Wayward Kittehs. (“Kittehs”, by the way, is from I Can Haz Cheezburger, a website I personally find highly amusing. It is pronounced, at least around our home, “kit-tays” or “kit-ehs”. Some people find the “LOL cats” on the site perplexing: What’s so funny about cats? they say. And all I can say is, if you don’t know, I can’t tell you. It would go against the Kitteh Kode.)

So anyway, yeah, my mother has had yet another knocked-up teenage cat appear at her doorstep, this time a cat bringing an equally young male with her. The Tom is clearly, my mother says, in love with the female, and no doubt the father of the little buggers.

They’ve come out of the woods, lured by crunchy kibble, a kitty-sized house with a retractable roof for easy cleaning, and two pairs of friendly hands.

Little Girl, as my mother calls her, has lain in the sun of my parents’ backyard for the last month. Black Tom grooms her thoughtfully and sweetly, and they look at each other through smiling, slitted eyes.

They have more than most, don’t they?

Little Girl had her litter two weeks ago. Five mewling little wards of Midge’s Home for Wayward Kittehs.

Look at these faces!

Can I get you a kitten?

Awwwwwwww...man do I have a sweet spot for Kittehs. I TOO love icanhazcheesburger.

It's adorable how much in love Mr Tom is with his lassie. No...not the dog. And to produce such beautiful offspring.

If my husband weren't somewhat allergic and dealing with one cat already, I'd TOTALLy take one. If he dies before me in old age, I swear..>I'll turn into that crazy cat lady. Seriously. :)

Awww. I think one of my little semi-feral frequent diners is preggers. I hate not knowing if they belong to anyone or I'd take them all to the vet and have them spayed/neutered.

Hi, Tami.
Every town needs a crazy cat lady. :-)

Hi, Lilly.
She is a very nice person. And she would probably let you stay there but she would never let you sleep in.

Hi, Icky.
That's very funny. :-)

Hi, Derfina.
Poor little things! I have two cats and they've both been "fixed". The yowling drives me/them/everyone crazy.

Hi, Rene.
Ohai. :-) Hoomer? U haz it.

Hi, Braja.
We'll wrap her up and you can have her in time for any major holiday you like. :-)

Love the post referring to becoming a "crazy cat lady." I too will fill my farm with little fur-children. I'm thinkin' small towns always needs a new crazy to gossip about and I'd hate for them to grow bored in our lil' town up here. :-)

Seriously cute, and take after their ma and pa. If only - but the dog was traumatised enough by our hens, and would definitely leave home.

They are so cute! The overpopulation in dogs and cats is so horrible that I never take in a kitten, just scarred old cats that nobody else wants. So many are put down for not having a home...
